Frequently Asked Questions
According to International Coaching Federation (ICF) coaching is a collaborative, confidential partnership that helps you grow personally and/or professionally. Through thoughtful, creative conversations, a coach creates a safe, non-judgmental space to uncover your strengths, expand your potential, and move past limitations. Rather than focusing on what’s wrong, coaching builds on what’s already working to help you gain clarity, stay accountable, and become your best self.
Identity coaching is a guided process that helps you explore who you are at your core, including your values, beliefs, strengths, and the roles you play in life. It's for anyone who feels uncertain about who they are, who they're becoming, or who they want to be.
Life transitions like becoming a parent, changing careers, recovering from illness, or simply outgrowing an old version of yourself can leave you feeling lost or disconnected from your sense of self. Identity coaching creates the space to work through that. It allows you to shed what no longer fits and build a clearer, more grounded sense of who you are and what you want your life to look like.
Identity coaching is a forward-focused, action-oriented partnership that helps you move from confusion or uncertainty to clarity and confidence so that you can make decisions, set goals, and show up in your life in a way that actually feels more authentically you.
In short, no.
Coaches are not mentors, because our coaching is about you rather than what the coach has accomplished. Coaches are also not consultants; we’re not here to give you answers, but to help you discover your own. And coaches are absolutely not therapists or a replacement for any clinical or mental health professional. Therapists typically focus on the past—exploring trauma, emotions, and dysfunctional patterns, or the why behind seeking support. Coaches, on the other hand, focus on the how: how you move forward, overcome challenges, and create the future you want.
Coaching and therapy do often complement each other wonderfully, and many individuals choose to engage in both concurrently. I am always happy to collaborate with therapists and/or other mental health professionals to ensure that my clients have the best outcomes when my clients prefer and allow.
I coach anyone looking to live a more authentic and fulfilling life, whether they wish to focus on their identity, their home life, their career, or anything else! However, I do hold a particular level of expertise and passion in supporting women and neurodivergent individuals.
I proudly consider myself to be a safe, trauma-informed, and inclusive coach for all.
My coaching style is collaborative, evidence-based, and intentionally non-traditional. I believe that you are most capable of reaching your goals when you feel truly accepted for who you are rather than who you (or society) think you should be, and when your experiences, circumstances, and challenges are met with genuine understanding.
I value the power of a positive mindset, while also recognizing that positivity alone doesn’t solve everything. Real growth happens when mindset work is paired with compassion, practicality, data, and an honest acknowledgment of life’s complexities. I take the time to understand your unique struggles, strengths, and the many nuances that shape your life.
I approach coaching with empathy, humor, and humanity. I connect through shared experiences, thoughtful reflection, and a deep respect for your story. My goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free space where you feel safe to be yourself, explore possibilities, and take meaningful steps toward a life that feels completely your own.
Goal-setting in my coaching practice is a collaborative and thoughtful process. We begin with a brief screening to make sure coaching is the right fit for your needs, and that we’re a good fit for each other. If it’s not the right match, I’ll help you find a coach or another professional who is. From there, we move into an initial assessment, followed by regular sessions in a comfortable, supportive space where you can show up as your authentic self. Throughout the process, I’m actively developing my suggestions for a plan to help guide you toward your goals.
Together, we look at the full picture of who you are, usually with the help of motivational interviewing and working through expertly targeted and thought-provoking questions. Topics covered could include your values, personality, lifestyle, strengths, skills, challenges, opportunities for growth, and more. We can also include data we collect from evidence-based assessments and questionnaires if you need some help identifying these factors. I take time to understand your unique experiences so your goals align with your life and what truly matters to you.
Using evidence-based practices, thoughtful questions, and practical tools, we uncover your priorities, identify obstacles, and get to the root of your needs and potential. The work we do is designed to be practical and usable, with tools you can apply in your daily life. Coaching doesn’t stop at the end of our session. It’s meant to support ongoing growth, and to help you change your life in a way that is empowering and intentional.
See "How do you work with clients to set their goals?" The same answer applies to you! I can help in any stage of the goal setting process, even if you're feeling completely stuck on where to begin.
Coaching isn't a one-size-fits-all process, and so the investment will not be the same for everyone. That investment will vary depending on the number and length of sessions, how often you prefer to check in and touch base in between meetings, and other tools and resources you may require along the way.
You may find it beneficial to purchase multiple sessions as a package up front for a package discount. Occasionally, you may find discounts offered on Wisdom At Work's social media pages and/or in our email newsletter, so make sure you're subscribed and following!
Please also make yourself aware of the Re-Scheduling and Cancelation Policies so that you don't risk getting charged additional fees.
Rest assured, costs will always be communicated to you transparently up front. I'm also more than happy to discuss your budget with you and see how we can arrange your support to best meet your needs.
Currently I am available to meet with clients virtually, over the phone, or in person. Let me know which you'd prefer and we can discuss specifics.
Coaching is most effective when you are actively engaged in the process. When you commit to meeting regularly with your coach, engaging fully, and applying what you learn, meaningful change is possible. According to a Global Consumer Awareness Study conducted by the ICF, individuals who participate in coaching experience a wide range of benefits, including:
-Improved communication skills
-Increased self-confidence
-Greater productivity
-Improved work–life balance
-A deeper understanding of personal values, strengths, and areas for growth
-Greater clarity around goals and the steps needed to achieve them
At any point during the coaching process, if something doesn’t feel effective or your direction shifts, let's talk about it! Coaching is a flexible, evolving partnership. Together, we can adapt the process and identify solutions that keep you aligned with your goals.
